DESCRIPTION

DESCRIPTION
This is a leather knife made by the same process as the ancient Japanese swordsmith.
These knives are 100% handmade with our longtime experience and skilled techniques.
Used for leather cutting and skiving.

It is almost symmetrical, so it can be used by both right-handed and left-handed people.
As it is a handmade product, there may be a slightly slant.

(1) The materials used are Yasugi steel (Aogami No.2) is luxuriously used.
Using the same manufacturing method as that used by sword smiths, the metal is heated to a bright red and beaten to create a blade that combines two types of iron (Yasugi steel + ultra soft iron), simultaneously increasing the metal density (hardness).
This is because the steel must be hard and tenacious to cut as sharp as a sword, while the base metal must be soft and brittle.
You will experience a sharpness that cannot be achieved with mass-produced pressed products.

(2) The following are some of the features of this process.
The blade is cut by hand in the order of rough finishing, medium finishing, and final finishing, using three different types of whetstones.

The edge of the blade has a beautiful edge pattern like a Japanese sword.

(3) The blade of conventional leather knives is not symmetrical.
The disadvantage of this is that the ratio of the left and right sides of the blade is different when sharpening the blade, which causes the force to be different.
When sharpening a blade that I was not used to, the blade often slanted as shown in the image below.
By making the blade edge symmetrical, it is easy to equalize the amount of force used when sharpening the blade.
This can make it easy to sharpen the knife.

(4) The material of the wooden handle is made of "Hou (Magnolia obovata)".
"Hou" is used for Japanese sword scabbard, kitchen knives, etc.
A wood with high oil content "Hou" is highly resistant to water when sharpening with water, also the metal parts inserted into the handle are resistant to rust.

(5) The knife is imprinted with the brand.
